Mercedes Benz Fashion Week – Fall 2008 – Feb 1-8

January 29, 2008

There are few things in life that get me as excited as seeing a perfectly draped gown, beautifully princess seamed coat and orgasmic flowing sumptuous fabrics as they come stomping down the runway on 5 inch heels and stilts for legs! Nothing makes me more exuberant than to see the fabulous, fashion forward interpretations from world-renown designers during Fashion Week! While I am not so lucky to be in attendance at Bryant Park, my homey since grade school, Fashion Kitty, is up in NYC right now preparing to attend some fab shows!

I will be tuning in to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week site as well as NY Mag’s coverage of all of the shows.  I truly am upset about the Style Network and their lack of coverage of all things FASHION! I remember back in the day how it was ALL fashion and you could always catch a runway show or designer bio! Now all they have are crappy shows for stay-at-home moms and Wedding shows – um BLAH!

I digress, thanks to the wonderful world wide web and bloggers with mucho passion for fashion there will be plenty of ways to keep up with Fashion Week Fall 2008!!! I will keep you posted with some of my most favorite pieces and also keep you linked with bloggers who post on the daily about each show! Also, make sure you check my ThisNext Mercedes Benz Fashion Week lists, VaFashionista, as I show you what you can wear now, from the Fall 2008 trends.

I’m SO excited!!!!! Can’t wait!!!! WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Tighten Up People!

Aerosmith: Living On The Edge

The state of the American Economy is no joke.  Was reading this article on CNN, “Americans Tightening Their Belts” and the quote that stood out to me the most follows:

“If you’re living on the edge when times are good, just what are you going to do when they get bad?”

Ummm, HELLO!!!!! Wow! I don’t know about the rest of you but I have already set in motion my plan(s) to get my house in order! In every sense of the phrase.  I want to be the fabulous chick, that I am, that owes NOONE!

Pull Down Strongholds!

January 20, 2008

WHEW!!! Church was chuuuuuuuuuuuch today!!! I’m so overjoyed God woke me up this morning to get a heaping dose of His wonderful Word!!! Boy, the Lord was all up in church today! In the Praise and Worship, in the Alter Call, in EVERY hymn the choir sang and ofcourse, the Pastor’s message! I’m telling you! If they recorded this church service today in any way, video, tape recorder, anything, I’m going to get it and distrubute it! It was SO powerful today!

The Pastor spoke from 2 Corinthians 10 : 3-5, about Strongholds and how this war – because there is a war people, and not a physical one, but in the Spiritual relm – is real.

Verse 3 – “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh

Verse 4 – “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for PULLING DOWN STRONGHOLDS

Verse 5 – “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

BUt in the midst of your storm, this battle, this war, there is POWER in the name of JESUS! Shout it! Scream it! Call it out! However you do it, the devil will back down, because he is scared of the POWER the name of Jesus holds. Praise Jesus and pull down those strongholds! Those “bad habits” or “habits”, we give them nice names, but they are  what they are, Strongholds! PULL THEM DOWN using your weapon – PRAISE!!!

I am so filled with the Holy Spirit right now and I just had to share! Today is a Blessed day! Thank You JESUS for waking me! Whew!

Mi Vida No Esta Loca

What up!!! So in lieu of what’s been popping off in my life lately, I have decided to take life, head on, so that in the future I am not smacked in the face by reality quite as hard as I have been recently. Life is, well, if you had asked me a few days ago, I would have thought there was no way to continue, yeah it was that drastic, but now, my life, is about me. It’s about me focusing on what is truly important and growing up and still learning. For me, right now, my life is to focus on God; my walk with God and continue to become stronger than ever in this walk and my faith.

Let me tell you something, if you don’t have God in your life or are not actively working on a relationship with Him, I suggest you get on your job.  I can’t imagine what I have been going through and going through it without God and being able to come out on top; I just can’t! I will never let go of His unchanging hand, never! And I love that feeling, knowing God is with me ALWAYS, through EVERYTHING!

I’m not saying your life is going to be peachy-keen just because you are deciding to live your life for Christ; all of you who attend church regularly and read your Bible know that isn’t true. But, your life will begin to form a meaning and in the process, you will begin to realize your purpose.  I truly believe through my trials and tribulations, struggles and strife, not only am I learning valuable life lessons, God is working on me to become that woman He made me to be. In addition to becoming that woman, my purpose is being revealed to me and let me tell you, it is amazing!

It’s funny, when I was in higschool, I was on my way to my friends house after church and in a moment, my eyes and mind were opened and my purpose was revealed to me. Now because I wasn’t perhaps in the right place, time, hadn’t grown enough, I couldn’t for the life remember what it was! Oh and I tried and tried, but to no avail. Now, ever more through my recent storms, it is coming back to me and I couldn’t be happier. Any God-given gift is to be cherished and lived out for the sole purpose of serving our Lord.  I only hope I can be the best woman that God wants me to be while using this special gift bestowed upon me.

Just had to share my thoughts with you all! I’ve enjoyed reading each and every one of your blogs! Keep writing because it gives me a great distraction from work each day, LOL! Hope you all have a great weekend!!

*B* – the destination to becoming a domestic goddess – LOL!

January 7, 2008

So, yeah, I can ‘cook’ but I can’t cook. Last year my good friend gave me a cookbook, Patte Labelle’s to be exact, and it just adorns my counter – lo siento! But recently, I have been inspired by my good friend Kristen and her cooking escapades! Her dishes are MARVELOUS and it really takes no time!

Her secret is The Food Network online recipes!  Last week she told me about a Three Bean chili and it was SO cold and it sounded YUM! So I finally stopped being lazy, went to the grocery store and bought ingredients for the vegetarian version!

May I say, I impressed myself!!!!! Prep time, (including the chopping of the green & red peppers, jalapenos, onions and garlic), cook time, AND clean up — all under 1 hour! wooo hooo! Here is the recipe – Veg. Three Bean Chili – I added Garbanzo beans to mine and instead of all the seasonings, I used a packet of hot, spicy chili seasoning by McCormack. *Also, it says it feeds four, but ummmmm I have a HUGE pot full and it will feed me for more than a week!!*

This is still the beginning of my journey to becoming domesticated.  I helped in the kitchen a great deal on Thanksgiving and Christmas! I even cooked Christmas Eve dinner! For Thanksgiving, I made a fruit and cheese tray and helped bake and cook the turkey.  For Christmas Eve I made a FABULOUS vegetarian lasagne that EVERYONE tore up with a great salad to accompany it!! For dessert, I made a Red Velvet Cake! No, not from scratch, I’m not there yet! But it was DAMN good! It was gone in a couple days 🙂  Below are my pics from my destination lol

I am NOT being productive!

January 4, 2008

And I only sorta care! There is so much running through my mind that I just can’t think about it; you know what I mean?! So instead of tackling the issues and knocking them out one-by-one, I am doing useless, mindless shyt to get me through the day. Example: I log on to Myspace, Facebook, my blog, others blogs, AIM, gtalk, ThisNext etc etc…(well, ThisNext is work, but FUN work!) Anywhoo, I love distractions! Sometimes I feel like I have ADD or ADHD but it’s only because I need to escape from what is swirling around in my head at times!

My head is on constant pound mode these past few days! I’m always lightheaded because I drink too much green tea lol! When I get up to p lol I damn near fall over because I’m so focused on drinking my damn tea! — so random that thought was!

So anyways, back to me not being productive.  I need to REVAMP the hell outta my resume and I came up with a smashing idea on the way to work on what to do and do you think I’ve even opened up the folder with my old resume in it…Hell nah! lol B/C – I’m notbeing productive! Plus, when I get to thinking about it, I’d rather log onto Myspace and see what my girl wrote me back to what I shared with her! LOL! – I’m ridiculous!

I’m also on a typing and writing frenzy thanks to my numerous – 3 cups already – cups of green tea! Damn I love this stuff! Even more so because it’s organic and fair trade certified! — again, so random! So yeah, I guess I’m being a lazy ass! But am I? Yeah, *B*, you are! ugh! Seriously after this post I’m going to check my myspace and see her response, then read all of you all’s blogs, then who knows! Oh, probably make more recommendations over at ThisNext – I’m a Product Guide over there for Fashion and Beauty! Check me out, http://www.thisnext.com/by/VaFashionista/! Ok, plug over!

Wow! What I wouldn’t give to like see the inside of my head right now! I feel like there are all these words and ideas bounncing around off my brain and wheels spinning and the like! Like I’m just running around trying to cath a word, a phrase and pin it down, tackle it and finish it! Wrestling words and thoughts! lol! That is what is going on in this head of mine! Aren’t you glad I shared?! Of course you are…now back to your regularly scheduled program!

Peace out yo!
